LETTUCE (Lactuca sativa)

Iceberg
Iceberg is the most commonly used lettuce in the UK. Iceberg should be compact with a little spring, crisp and semi sweet to mild flavour. They are medium green on the outer leaves but inside reveal a pale yellow heart.



Cos / Sweet Romaine
Given it name Cos after the Greek Island where it was supposed to have originated it has remained popular ever since roman times.

Cos lettuce is a long leaved lettuce with dark green outer leaves and paler inner leaves. It has a very nice sweet flavour and a crunchy texture.

Little Gem
Little Gem or "Sucrine", means sugar in French which refers to the Little Gems buttery texture and excellent flavour, so in addition to its excellent appearance and wonderful health benefits, it creates the perfect salad.



Frisee

Red Oakleaf
Red Oakleaf is most commonly seen in mixed salads, each of its rounded colourful leaves starts green then turns to a deep purple red. Good taste makes it an excellent decorative choice.
